Description
In almost every photo I've seen of Yellowstone's geothermal features (geysers, mud volcanoes, etc.), I've noticed that an ever-present aspect of them is rarely included: the wooden boardwalks that allow us to cross fields of boiling water to get near them. So, I've done a series of images including both the geothermal features and the boardwalks that take us there.
It was challenging to find spaces where there weren't tons of tourists walking!

Dark sky is the result of holding a neutral density (ND) filter over a polarizer on my wide angle. Photos in this series are edited overall only for minor contrast and sharpening.

This is my favorite of the three... I like how the sky is more dramatic and the steam is more central and contained rather than everywhere. At first glance, I didn't like that the boardwalks were in the photos, but after reading your statement, I will admit, I find them sort of interesting (yay for reading artists comments )...
